Traits

Traits are gained by eating food or gifting edible food to NPCs

Traits affect people by temporarily changing their skills or demeanour, e.g. making them run faster, be more friendly or perhaps even smell nice.

Cooked meals increase the duration of the effect when compared to eating a single item, while higher-quality items increase the potency of the effect.

  • The effects of a single item will last 6 hours
  • The effects of a cooked mean will last 48 hours
  • Each star the item has increases the potency of the trait

A maximum of three traits can be active at a time. Consuming a new item will replace any currently active traits.

How to gain Talents

NPCs start with one Talent.

Marrying and having a child will pass on that Talent to your baby.

The baby will also gain 1 random Talent from the list, so will end up with 2.

When you pass on and marry again, the baby you have will gain the spouse's Talent, plus one of the 2 Talents you already have. The 3rd Talent will be randomised (Black Sheep Talent).

Adopted kids have one random talent, but space to gain 3.

Talents are displayed in the Permanent Traits space on the Status screen.

Stats

Stats dictate your characters strengths and weaknesses.

Whilst your base stats are fixed there are a handful of ways that you can permanently increase a stat, and many more ways to temporarily increase them.

Depending on what actions you want to perform, it may be beneficial to boost your stats beforehand. The quickest way to do that is to apply some traits by eating some food.
