Marriage & Children
Marriage
At some point in your life, you may want to get married and even have children. A family can give many benefits, such as looking after your farm, cooking, working in your shops on the cheap and in the case of kids, improving your next life. Most normal Quillians can be married. Only Wanderers, Masters and special NPCs cannot be wed. Do not worry if someone is already married, as Quillian belief dictates that the Spirit of Love has moved on, and so people accept this. An NPC must be in Love with you before you can begin the process of marriage, and they must be aged 18 years or older. The process involves proving your worth to your beloved by baking them a special love pie and exchanging that for a Binding Band. A Binding Band is a kind of bracelet that each partner wears and signifies their special union.
Go to Loverwood, and over to the left of the High Priest you will find a White Rose. The White Rose is the traditional Quillian way of proposing. Pick this rose.
The Proposal
Gift the White Rose to your loved one. After your initial marriage proposal, the Road to Marriage task will begin. You must bake a fresh Pie of You and I and give it to the High Priest in Loverwood. The first time you meet the High Priest, he will give you the recipe for the Pie of You and I, so just make sure you have talked to him before getting all excited and started throwing White Roses around willy-nilly. The High Priest will exchange the Pie for a Binding Band, ready for giving to your souse-to-be.
The Wedding
Upon receiving the Binding Band, your partner will accept your proposal, bringing up the wedding planner.
Choose the wedding date. Make sure not to pick a date that clashes with anything else you have planned.
To start the ceremony turn up on the day, anytime before the start time. Head to the gazebo in Loverwood and interact with the High Priest to start the ceremony.
During the ceremony, a spirit will enter your spouse and raise a stat +3 at random, for as long as you remain married.
After the ceremony, your spouse will be at your family home on the farm.
Divorce
If at any point you wish to break it off with your current spouse. Simply return to the High Priest and pay a fee of 500 brass.
Your ex-partner will then leave your home and you'll be free to marry someone else if you wish.
Having Babies
Once married you can gift your spouse a Rabbit Corndoll to trigger the Wheel of Delight and spin for the chance of a baby, among other things.
The Wheel of Delight
Once you trigger the Wheel of Delight you start a Wheel of Fortune-style mini-game to decide the outcome. The arrow will spin and stop of its own accord in one of the sections.
Rating | Outcome |
---|---|
Rotton Turnip | Friendship Down a lot |
Wilting Rose | Friendship Down |
Sleeping Dragon | Friendship Down a little |
Run of the Mill | No Change to Friendship |
Smoking Chimney | Friendship Up a little |
Erupting Volcano | Friendship Up |
Stork | Friendship Up a lot + A Baby |
2 Storks | Friendship Up a lot + 2 Babies |
The combined Virility stat of yourself and your partner can increase or decrease the size of each segment, increasing the chances of landing on a more desired outcome when you have a higher combined virility. Virility is a rating that can be enhanced by eating certain foods, boons and items.
Most outcomes will end with either an increase or decrease in your friendship but on occasion, you will conceive.
The Stork
Once a baby is conceived it will eventually arrive by stork outside the family home.
Interact with the stork to receive the baby. You're then allowed to rename them before welcoming them into the family. If you're not around to receive the baby on time, Pott will take the child in and tend to them until you return.
Family Scheduler
You can give your family orders to help with their learning and stat growth, and just to help you gather materials and look after the farm and pets. You do this via the Family Scheduler.
