It's also just a nice thing to do with someone you like. You don't have to date someone before you try to marry them.

Summary

Dating is a good way to get a lot of FP and raise your friendship level with villagers. It's also just a nice thing to do with someone you like. You don't have to date someone before you try to marry them.
