Mushroom minigame is found in any combat zone.
Hit the mushrooms in the order they flash in. There are 6 tones/flashes in the sequence, after a single central mushroom is hit to begin the game. The more of the sequence you remember, the better the prize pool. You can combo hit to save time on a single mushroom if it flashed more than once.
