When you reach GM Renown Tier 2, you get a task to Meet Marshtyt
- Visit Marshtyt in Twanging Gardens
Marshtyt lives in Twanging Gardens and is the Master of Gardening.
Head to Cunning Plots and a scene plays out between Ken Tiller and Veg Rarney.
Veg: I told you already, I’m not clearing this up. Ken: Well it’s not my mess! I saw you dumping it there just to stop me getting into the village. Veg: Pah! Nonsense. You threw it all here to stop me sneakily using your windmill. Ken: Ah! So you admit it?! Veg: I did no such thing, nor did I pour glue into the grindstone. Ken: You just try that again and see how many pumpkins get filled up with fart gas. Veg: So that was you! Ken: I did no such thing! Veg: Did too! Anyway, I am not clearing up this mess. Ken: Well, I am sure some sucker will come along and clear it up. There’s always one do-gooder. Veg: True, that.
A blockage stops the player from crossing either bridge. Clear the blockage using friends & family. It costs only Brass as a resource to clear it.
Head to The Twanging Gardens, south of FineFayre.
Enter Twanging Gardens and watch the scene with the Witchhunter.
Witchhunter “Aha! There they are!”
Marshtyt isn’t visible but we portrait pop-up a chat… Marshtyt: “I am not coming out til that thing is gone! Please help!”
We return to the Witchhunter and player. Witchhunter: Those two have been coming out of the forest and causing bother, and now they have a new toy. I wonder who gave them that? See those rifts? I saw them before over in Homesteads, but not being Fae I couldn’t touch them. Maybe you can? Be prepared for trouble though!”
Witchhunter: “Clear those rifts out and then destroy that Totem! They seem to attract Hobs and Lobs and so on to the area they appear in. The blighters ravage the region of all its goods. I reckon if you can remove the totem, then the Hobs will go too. And don’t worry about dying in there, you will just get booted out for a small REP loss and can try again!”
- Destroy the Totem
Description: Remove the Totem by clearing out the rifts, before exposing the Totem. Interact with the rift portals and once destroyed, head to the Totem and enter the portal below it. You will need to have your sword and can’t use a loadout or items, so be sharp about it! If your health reaches zero, do not worry as you are merely ejected with a small REP loss, and can try again. Reward: 10 REP per Rift and 25 for the Totem.
- Talk to Marshtyt
Now that the Totem is gone, talk to Marshtyt the Master Gardener.
Marshtyt “Blessings be on you. I am Marshtyt the Master Gardener. I have no idea what that horrible thing was, but those Hobs stole everything. As thanks, return anytime and you can pick at my growers. And here, take this Blueprint. It will let you build a greenhouse so you can grow plants all year round. If you are up to it, you could repair mine too. I’ll let you take whatever is grown in them. As for skills…well, bring me my requests in the time-honoured fashion and you could have your garden looking blooming great in no time.”
WitchHunter is stood by Marshtyt after the totem gets destroyed.

Witchhunter: “Nicely done with that evil Totem. I’d keep your eyes peeled for them, or listen out for hints, watch Noticeboards etc. I am sure they will turn up again somewhere, but for now, you gave those buggers a taste of Mr Stabs. We will meet again. Now, while I am here, I want to get some tips from Mr Marshtyt for my pansies…”
